Please be mindful and respectful of your practice and others’ by following our studio etiquette.

  • Please sign in to class when you first enter the Ashtanga Yoga studio.
  • Inform your teacher of any injuries, recent surgeries, and pregnancies.
  • Notify us if you have any concerns regarding adjustments.
  • Come well hydrated and leave your water outside of the practice room.
  • No food, gum, or beverages are allowed in the studio space.
  • No electronics are allowed inside the studio space.
  • Refrain from unnecessary talking in the practice room.
  • Place your towel folded behind your mat.
  • Please shower and keep your gear clean before practicing. Well worn material may need to be deep-cleaned every so often (with a solution of vinegar and water).
  • Refrain from using perfumes and strong scents as many people are sensitive to fragrance.
  • If you overindulged in alcohol the night before, we kindly ask you to stay home to recover.
  • You don’t have to remember the sequence perfectly. We will remind you as many times as needed.
  • Please do not practice any new poses unless advised by your teacher. Your teacher will offer new poses at the appropriate time.
  • Please do not go over the Mysore Yoga end time. Give yourself at least 15 minutes for backbends, closing, and rest before the studio closes. If you have questions about modifying the length of your practice, let us know.
  • Silently reciting the opening and closing chants at the beginning and end of your Mysore practice is optional but recommended.
