Meet Jamie!

We’re excited to introduce Jamie Sava’s longtime student, teacher, and friend who has been part of the MYA family for many years. Jamie has trained extensively and is extremely skilled. She is subbing for Sava on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the second half of Mysore, and she also leads our Sunday guided all-level class.

Please give Jamie a warm welcome! We’re grateful to have her energy, knowledge, and dedication with us on the mat. If you would like to know more, read her bio below. 🌟🙏💫

Jamie discovered yoga in 2012 while seeking a path to regain her fitness after the birth of her first child. After attending a yoga basics class, she realized she had found something far more meaningful than a simple workout.

A few days later, she entered her first Ashtanga class and felt an immediate connection to the practice. Sava’s modified led primary class taught her how breath and movement could quiet an anxious mind. Intrigued, she became a dedicated student, experiencing benefits that extended well beyond the physical.

After six years of practice and the arrival of two more children, Jamie decided to deepen her practice. She completed the 200-hour LifePower Yoga Teacher Training in 2018 and followed with LifePower’s 300-hour program in 2019. Her background as a Physical Therapist Assisting student provided valuable insight into anatomy and physiology, enhancing her understanding of asana alignment and modifications to accommodate students’ varying physical needs. She further broadened her skill set with 36 hours of Thai Yoga Bodywork training under Michael Sitzer in 2019.

Having studied with Sava since 2012 and receiving extensive one-on-one mentorship, Jamie’s teaching is both knowledgeable and compassionate, supporting students in their practice.

1️⃣ Week 1: Understand the essence of Ashtanga Yoga. Learn and practice correct breathing, the vinyasa system, and the five elements of yoga. Engage Tristhana (the three points of attention) and discover the eight limbs of Ashtanga.

Welcome Susan Walker! 🧘‍♀️✨

We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to Susan Walker as she returns to our Mysore Yoga Atlanta family. It’s our pleasure to embrace her back into our community and to embark on a shared journey of growth and connection as one big, supportive family. 🌿

Teaching days: Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Susan is certified with Yoga Alliance as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). She is also trained in the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga under Tim Miller. She has studied extensively with Sava for eight years, in addition to training with David Keil and Tim Miller. With a background in fitness, Susan holds certifications in Personal Training, Group Exercise, and Pilates apparatus. She specializes in working with injured and special populations, helping clients restore function and reduce pain through yoga and strength-training modalities.

Additionally, she trained under Dr. Karta Purkh Singh Khalsa and the Yoga Veda Institute, earning certification as an Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor. Her areas of focus include women’s health, digestive health, nutrition, and supporting optimal metabolic balance.
