MYA Gift Exchange Holiday Party!

Our traditional way of letting loose. 🤷‍♂️

Let the Festivities begin! Come join us at the studio for our traditional cute MYA Elephant Gift Exchange Party! Food and entertainment will be provided. This time we will have some non-alcoholic and alcoholic options to accommodate everyone’s preferences. Just bring a wrapped gift of around $30 value and enjoy the evening among your friends and fellow yogis! See you soon!

How It Works:
1. Bring one wrapped, unmarked gift.
2. As guests arrive, they will place their gift in a designated area, under the Christmas tree.
3. We’ll draw numbers to determine the gift-selection order.
4. When it’s your turn, you can either choose an unopened gift or “steal” an already opened gift from another participant.
5. The game continues until everyone has a gift.
The Rules:
* A gift can only be “stolen” a set number of times (e.g., three times) before it is “frozen.”
* Each time a gift is “stolen,” the person whose gift was taken gets to choose a new gift or “steal” from someone else. 🎁✨

Meet Jamie!

We’re excited to introduce Jamie Sava’s longtime student, teacher, and friend who has been part of the MYA family for many years. Jamie has trained extensively and is extremely skilled. She is subbing for Sava on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the second half of Mysore, and she also leads our Sunday guided all-level class.

Jamie discovered yoga in 2012 while seeking a path to regain her fitness after the birth of her first child. After attending a yoga basics class, she realized she had found something far more meaningful than a simple workout.

A few days later, she entered her first Ashtanga class and felt an immediate connection to the practice. Sava’s modified led primary class taught her how breath and movement could quiet an anxious mind. Intrigued, she became a dedicated student, experiencing benefits that extended well beyond the physical.

After six years of practice and the arrival of two more children, Jamie decided to deepen her practice. She completed the 200-hour LifePower Yoga Teacher Training in 2018 and followed with LifePower’s 300-hour program in 2019. Her background as a Physical Therapist Assisting student provided valuable insight into anatomy and physiology, enhancing her understanding of asana alignment and modifications to accommodate students’ varying physical needs. She further broadened her skill set with 36 hours of Thai Yoga Bodywork training under Michael Sitzer in 2019.

Having studied with Sava since 2012 and receiving extensive one-on-one mentorship, Jamie’s teaching is both knowledgeable and compassionate, supporting students in their practice.

1️⃣ Week 1: Understand the essence of Ashtanga Yoga. Learn and practice correct breathing, the vinyasa system, and the five elements of yoga. Engage Tristhana (the three points of attention) and discover the eight limbs of Ashtanga.
During the second hour, you will learn the alignment principles of Sun Salutation A. Adaptations based on your unique needs will be covered during this session.

2️⃣ Week 2: Delve into the standing sequence, refining your postures and alignment.

3️⃣ Week 3: Ground with the seated sequence. Practice Drishti (focused gaze) and learn 5 most known vinyasas (half vinyasa)
